Survival Challenge (private)

Today was a great day for Brett. He had got in a good swim and picnic with himself and his mirror before being called to the primary's office. While there, and the other two tribe leaders were there, he was told that there would be a survival challenge in camp. Each one of them would pick a tribal warrior from any of the three tribes to be their partner, and they would survive three days with just the two of them. There would be real monsters and danger. The tribe leader(s) that won, or lasted all three days, would be considered (or guaranteed if just one team was lest) for the unified leader position. The current unified leader had retired. Also the camper with the tribe leader that won would would be considered/guaranteed the then-vacated position of the tribal leader.

Brett wanted to be unified leader a lot, but he had to think about who he would pick. There were tons of great warriors in this camp. He was told he wasn't allowed to bring anything but clothes and the other person, even no Growl. He had to choose wisely.

As crazy and maybe love-blind he was, he wasn't going to pick out of those extremely great nearly guaranteed win warriors, he was going to pick Carmen, the girl he had a crush on since he rescued her.

It was the day that they would choose. All the campers (except the new bloods) were lined up that afternoon. It was extremely hot outside, nearly 100 F.

Brett was last to choose. He slowly said,

"I choose Carmen."

After a quick jog through the camp's jungle and a good game of soccer with her fellow campers, she went to the dinning hall to replenish herself before meeting in the middle of camp in order for the tribal leaders to pick which warrior they want to go with them on their survival training.


Carmen stood in the line, waiting for this to be over so that she could maybe go to the restaurant in the Heart of Camp or maybe head back to her dorm. Her eyes fell on Brett. The last time they met wasn't as good as she expected it to be so she didn't get her hopes up about being p- wait. Did he just call her name?

She stepped forward, hearing a couple of mumbles coming from the line behind her. Carmen's eyes still didn't fall on Brett's.

Brett heard a few whispers and a few whistles. He rolled his eyes; it must've been Val, or maybe somehow because of his popularity they found it so interesting he hung out with Carmen sometimes. It wasn't bad for them to be friends, he saved her and took her here in the first place. Brett smiled and waved a little at her.

Once the primary announced the rules, he said he'd blow a whistle and to go into three different directions paved out for them. Brett and Carmen's path was fairly simple; straight ahead. Three days was all it would take, he thought, and he was unified leader, the third most important person in camp. He looked at Carmen, awaiting the whistle. "We got this, don't worry about all those people yelling or whistling at you. You're a good warrior. And we win, you get to become a tribe leader, I get to be a unified leader. Think about that." He reassuringly put a hand on her shoulder and smiled.

Brett was sweating a bit from the weather. He had to get some water when they were in the jungle.

The primary blew the whistle, and Brett took off running as fast as he could, hoping Carmen was closely behind.

Carmen stood beside Brett with her head held high. She was still full of shock, but she didn't want everyone else to know that. "I'm not worried about that." She said in a monotone. Once the whistle was blown, she took off; running faster than Brett and most of the others were. Carmen took power from the sun to fuel her entire sprint to their destination.

Brett looked around, trying to focus on running at the same time, when he realized she was ahead of him rather than behind. He tried to run faster, but decided it had to do with how bright the sun was today. He ran into the jungle, stopping when he saw a small lake. "Here's a water source. I say we stop here and take a drink. I'm going to take a swim to conserve energy. I think if I tried, I could harness some of my abilities onto you. That way, we stay here in the water until night, and then we're not tired tonight and we're able to hunt. Sound good?"

Once they reached the lake, Carmen looked over at Brett. "I need to drink right now." She said sharply, looking around. "And we shouldn't set up camp near the lake. Wild animals come here to drink at night so I think I'm going to set up camp a couple hundred feet away from here." The daughter of Tonaituh started to walk away into she saw a clearing where she would be able to make a makeshift hut.

Brett nodded. "Remember though, I can talk to animals, reason with them. As long as we stay near water, we'll be fine the entire three days. Hopefully you can build, because I can't, and we have nothing but clothes to build." He walked back to the water, looking at her in the distance. He left his clothes over there. He searched around for any animals that might come, as well as monsters. Brett took off his shirt and socks and shoes. He got his swimming trunks, and went into one of the changing rooms he knew nearby before coming out and jumping in the water. "Carmen, get in!" he shouted.

OOC: There's a changing room in the jungle? xD

BIC: Carmen was too focused on building their hut out of the palm leaves to hear whatever Brett was talking about. Don't get me wrong, Carmen still likes him it's just that the last time they met left a sour test in her mouth. After she did that, she created a fire pit where the would be able to cook anything they hunted.

Now she that the camp was sit up, the Aztec demigoddess walked back toward the lake to see Brett swimming in the water. "I rather sun bathe." She said, sitting on the shore crisscrossed.

bic: "Sun batheing won't keep you unharmed from wild animals that want to eat you, or rather, monsters. Listen, just please- wait a minute." He heard an odd noise. It was a growling sound. "Keep quiet and calm- HOLY-" something breathed a large amount of fire coming the way of Carmen. He quickly grabbed her and pulled her into the lake, as the fire crossed the small lake. He held onto her, trying to be protective, as the thing kept breathing fire into the lake. He allowed some of his abilities to go unto her, like breathing underwater. Brett blushed a little- it was weird holding onto her like some sort of superhero.

He quickly shot out of the water, dropping her quickly, shooting water at the thing and making it go back in the jungle. It went away.

Brett looked at her. "Sorry about that- uhm, just was, protecting you." Brett knew he shouldn't be sorry, he just saved her life. She would've been fried- she could've jumped into the water, but the large amount of fire would've killed her before she could. He could've also probably sent water in that direction, but the fire might've reached her first.

OOC: Lol okay then

BIC: Before Carmen could give a smart ass remark, her attention was turned to a funnel of flame that came out from the thicket of the jungle. She was shocked, but was afraid since she was immune to it. However, before she could react, Brett decided that she was endanger and yanked her into the lake. The Aztecan demigoddess held her breath once she was under even though Brett had allowed her to breathe without draining.

She felt his hands wrap around her body which she didn't mind as much as being suddenly shot out of the water and put down. Carmen just allowed Brett to take care of the beast. After that was done, Carmen looked up, blushing. "I-it's okay, but you should know that I'm immune to fire."

Brett wanted to be told he was a hero partly, not because of his cockiness, because he was pretty sure he saved her life. But then she told him in reality he was probably more in danger than she was. He blushed a little. "Oh. Uhm. Sorry, I didn't know that." He continued to swim around in the one spot he was in. "Just reactions to help a nearly fallen fellow Aztec. I didn't even realize you could be immune to fire beforehand. You should be somewhat glad, though, because it's not good for a warrior to assume one's ability. Assuming a warrior's ability is extremely bad in battle. Anywho."

Brett got out of the water, using a shirt to dry off. "I sat that if we're not going to swim, we should hunt. One person stays watch over- no, it's a bad idea to split up. If you got in danger, I want to be there to help, although I'm sure you're plenty capable yourself. I really care about you." The last part slipped out. He blushed a little again.

"I mean, we need as many warriors as we can, right?" he asked, trying to sound less hopelessy romantic and more 'you're important to this camp.'

Carmen shook her head slowly. "You don't need to tell me that, Brett. I know you're the tribe leader for the middle warriors and everything, but you don't have to..." She sighed and buried her head in her hands. She just decided to be quiet until it was necessary to speak.

She heard him get out of the water, then speak. Carmen listened to what Brett had to say, causing her head to drop when he said that he cared about her. Her cheeks filled with blush. Carmen cleared her throat.

"You know. I've liked you for a long time ever since you saved me from that oversized snake a year ago. I thought you were an amazing guy who I could see dating, but after that day at the waterfall, I don't know anymore."

"I don't know what to say, really. I've liked you since then too. What, amazing guy, waterfall, what? Dude, I was picking on you. And testing you. I'll tell you what. We can pretend the waterfall never happened, kiss, and talk after we're done surviving, or we can sit and talk over it now and argue and then ruin any chances of us. Listen, I have flaws, okay? But if you really like me, then you'll understand that you'll have to deal with my flaws if we..well, date. And to say more on that- just- just kiss me." Brett went in to kiss her. They were about half a millimeter away from their lips touching, when an arrow literally just missed his head.

"But still! I didn't like the way you dissed me, okay? I know you have flaws, so do I." She mumbled and looked over at him. Why did he have to be such an idiot? Carmen noticed him leaning in and was about to kiss him back, but there was an arrow that almost kissed Brett. She quickly stood up and readied herself. Hopefully her hand to hand combat would be enough. "I thought weren't allowed to have weapons!!"

Brett went to respond, when the arrow flew by, and he readied himself, a bit shaky that he almost died. "There's major healing supplies back at camp, and we're allowed to pick off each other- it was Santiago. He leads the juniors- well, you know that, he teaches you." Brett heard her about the weapon comment. "We're not!", which also made him think how Santiago, or (Senior Leader Tribe) for that matter, may have snuck in a- suddenly, the arrow exploded. Brett went flying, quickly grabbing Carmen's shoulder, landing in the water- it was deja vu from when the monster attacked them- except the explosion was huge. They were lucky to be living.

Brett swam with her up to the surface. "The camp we set up's destroyed- as well as my clothing. Dammmmnnn ittt," he growled. "Hang on, sun princess, we're going on a ride." He let her body rest against his back, like a piggy back ride, and went into the air on a giant waves, sending three huge water explosions in every direction. After that, the wave disappeared- he needed to recharge a bit, he was getting tired. He started screaming.

They were 150 feet high. Luckily, they were above the water. They plunged in, unharmed.

Carmen knew Santiago, but thought of him to be a very honorable guy. She got on top of Brett, letting him do all the work once again. After that was over, she used the sun's power to let herself over in the air until she decided to land on the shore. "What do we do now?" She asked, knowing that they had to start all over again.

"Nothing to do. All we have is jungle and your clothes. Apparently I'm walking around in my swimming trunks for the next couple of days." He laughed a little, trying to make a joke. Brett looked around for something, anything. "This jungle is my favorite place in camp. I think I know a spot that no one else does. I'm not sure if this is counted as cheating, but I have a little tree house thing I built by the waterfall. It has a mini-fridge and three sleeping bags. As well as some books. Not that I read or anything. We can go there." There was no concept of time, but he imagined a half an hour to an hour had passed since they got here. He grabbed onto her waist, making a water surfboard that he used to get them there.

"Here we are. After you, Sun Princess."

Carmen sighed, touching her forehead. "Okay. Well hopefully we'll come across something." She said in thought, trying to figure out what they should do. Then she heard Brett's comment and blushed. "I wouldn't mind that." She blushed deeply and looked down at her feet. "And I think that would be cheating, Brett. I can make another shelter if you want. It was fairly easy." She shrugged her shoulders.

The Aztecan felt his hands on her waist which made her blush. "Okay, Brett."

Brett heard her comment about cheating on the way there, and rolled his eyes. "Fine, but can we at least use the sleeping bags? Also, before I nearly got killed, we were about here, Sun Blush Princess." He pulled her close, kissing her on the lips. The surfboard below them went away, going to a nearby water source.

Carmen thought for a moment, the shook her head again. "Nope. Sorry." She smiled a bit and looked up at Brett. Right then he landed a kiss on her lips. She kissed him back and wrapped her arms around his neck.

Brett started kissing her back, when he felt a sharp pain in his back. He slowly fell and started loosing life. An arrow was stuck in his back, poison going through his veins.

The daughter of Tonaituh tried to catch him, but had to move out the way. She gasped and looked in the direction of the conquest steel arrow came from in front of her. Carmen quickly summoned two balls of fire and threw them back in the direction.

He slowly moved towards the water, and started healing himself, the poison going away, the arrow coming out of his back. He stood up, coughing a little. He studied around them. "The trees. It's the trees. They've sent random poison arrow trees to pick us off. We have to destroy it slash them if we wish to stay here. But until then." He put a water bubble over them, kissing her again.

Carmen's concern faded when she watched as Brett crawled toward the lake. He slowly started to heal himself. After he stood up, he explained what they were. This caused her to frown, looking over at the trees. "I can take care of those." She said before turning to look back at Brett who had kissed her and formed a bubble around them.

She kissed him back, adding a bit of tongue before pulling away and facing the trees once more. She walked out of the bubble and threw three more fireballs at the trees.

The trees caught on fire. Brett quickly put the fires out with the water. "Geez, Sun Princess, don't start a jungle fire. You're lucky you have me. Actually, we're lucky to have each other. Now, can you tell around what time it is by looking at the sun? We should probably start hunting now. Or we could hunt later and kiss more." Brett went to kiss her again, before a tree tried to shoot them again. He shielded them with water, and sent it back, poisoning the tree. It suddenly opened, revealing a bag.

Brett carefully opened it. Inside were food, weather supplies, a clock, blankets, and sleeping bags as well as walky-talkies and a recorded message. He played it. "Warning: on the second day, there will be a major snowstorm." "This is amazing. We have to cook this food and prepare for tomorrow. There'll be barely any sun compared to today and the water will be frozen, so we can't rely too much on powers."
